Default Yaz autograph… look real?

Hello autograph collectors and experts

I would like to sell (or trade) this nice Yaz autographed piece here locally but wanted to first ask for opinions on the authenticity likelihood of this autograph

I received this as a gift 30+ years ago but I no longer have a need for it in my man cave.

Before I sell or trade, what are your thoughts on the auto? I would not guess that there would be too many fake Yaz auto’s out there - but appreciate your input

Thx

Jeff

He did the "X" just to flip the picture and orient it the right way. You can't submit just a picture without some text in the body, so it was just an X.

It doesn't look like the typical Yaz autos, but I don't know if he took more time for a large, special piece.

There is an autograph section of the forum, you might get more eyes on this there.

I agree. I’ve seen a lot of Yaz sigs and that one really isn't even close to any of them…

My initial thought is no. His signature has been very consistent for years. The one I have on an ROALB is a side panel and he inscribed 84 on the tail end of it. I'm assuming it had been signed in 1984. Looks pretty much like his modern signature.

I don't like it either, and would not "invest" money trying to get it authenticated.

So if this one that the OP has is fake...are they all fake? Seems there are over 400 of these in the series, at least of the artist signed edition.

I suppose it could have been a reprint of the litho that was forged?

Well that stinks! I’ve had this for over 30 years… oh well. And that’s why I’ll stick with cards.

Thx for the the input

The HA one looks to be signed by the artist too and is #'d. The OP's is clearly not signed by the artist. Also, since it is framed, not sure if #'d.

The two sigs do look different.

Here’s an update to this old post - this is regarding a large Yaz litho I had for 30 years, signed by Yaz.

I sent the signature to Becket for their quick review service - a pretty good deal, $10 and 48 hour turn-around.

While they don’t issue any kind of COA for it at that price, they do issue a general opinion… and this Yaz came back as likely authentic, or some other language to that effect.

I was pleased on a number of levels - now I can be more comfortable selling to another local Sox fan knowing it’s more than likely legit, even without a COA.

Thanks again for weighing in earlier… not sure this will even be read, but I wanted to add an epilogue to my OP!

Happy Saturday, all

Jeff
