I recently acquired a signed photo of a famous non-sport person from the 1920's. Where can I get this authenticated? Also is it better to archive frame it then get it authenicated or the other way around?

Thanks for the help.

Jeff J

Vintage non-sports, that could include Hollywood/Historical/Music/Arts, etc.

Anyhow, depends on whether you want the most knowledgeable opinion or the one that tends to maximize resale value.

For the former, you could try http://www.pass-co.com/category/Our_Experts/c8

For the latter, http://www.psadna.com/

Richard Simon, http://www.richardsimonsports.com handles a lot of vintage Hollywood material, but I'm personally not certain if he offers authentication services outside of sports. You could ask, I guess; he's as good as they get in the business.

There's a many other fine experts I could fully recommend, but most just stick to buying/ selling instead of authenticating send-in items.

*In regard to the frame, you'd have to remove that if you wish to have it properly examined. It's hard to get a sense of 'depth' (i.e. preprint 'ink part of picture' vs. hand-signed 'ink lying on top') with glass in the way.

Get it authenticated before framing.

Thanks for the kind words, but I only authenticate vintage sports.

CS, Thanks for the help. I'll do the first as I care more about accuracy than anything else.
If I ever sell it, I will leave that up to my 10 year old.

Happpy Holidays... JJ
