1933 GOUDEY BASEBALL SET Item number: 8745154494

The seller has this set along with about four other complete sets (1940 Play Ball, 1949 Bowman, 1950 Bowman, 1951 Topps). All are in plastic sleeves in binders and all start at $1,000.

Oh, did I mention all are bid on by the same bidder, have no scans and were found in the sellers' Grandpa's attic??

Heeheeehee. I saw that one too David. No scans. Hmm. Not even of one little card. lolol. I decided when I saw them that I must have been born to the lamest quad of grandparents in history - I'm not even sure they had attics let alone stashes of full sets of vintage baseball cards in them!

EBay's going to love the fact that he has heavy solicitation for "purchasing the set without bidding."

Edited to correct typos unless otherwise noted.

Are you saying the bidder is a shill? With 645 pos feedback, highly unlikely. Are you saying the buyer doesn't have them? No reason to not believe. Ask the seller if you could pick them up in person. That will tell you more. Better yet, If you are worried, I live an hour from the seller, tell him I will pick them up. If he doesn't allow it then there might be a worry.

A scared man can't gamble and a jealous man can't work.

Quite some time ago, I used to report fraudulent auctions to eBay, and I did help to get some shut down. The crooks would steal the scans and even the discriptions from people such as Mile High and Superior. I asked eBay for a phone number to call because the process of turning these guys in was time consuming. Ebay was not interested in making it easier for me to help. I think that eBay is just too large to cope with this stuff. Or they don't care; they get their cut and are not really liable (maybe).

I agree that this one in particular may look fishy, but let's not throw caution to the wind when we report other sellers.

Several times in the past year, high-end auctions of mine were destroyed (and hundres of dollars were lost) because of people with nothing better to do, emailing my bidders and trying to report me to eBay and card manufactueres (newer stuff), alleging they were "fake." In every single situation, the cards' authenticity were confirmed by the manufacturers themselves.

Again, there are a lot of dirtbags on eBay, but we should be absolutely certain the items are not legitimate before ruining auctions.
