Default Can Someone Help with Vintage Hockey Autograph Value

Hi guys,

I am sorting through a box of miscellaneous stuff that I have had for 25+ years and came across this autograph. I believe it is on a mid fifties JD McCarthy postcard signed by Earl Reibel. I don't know much about Hockey and even less about autographs. I tried searching ebay and the web but didn't come up with anything similar. All help very much appreciated!

Jeff

When you consider that he is not a HOFer and he passed away in 2007 after an ordinary career and the personalization, this is not worth more than $20.

What Richard said.

With hockey guys, especially Canadians, signing autographs was totally part of the hockey culture. I can say that during the 1969-1976 years of getting hockey autographs in person at Oakland Seals games I got turned down exactly once for an autograph from a hockey player and close to 100% returns from TTM requests.

Who turned you down?

Hopefully he was just having a bad day

Bob Gassoff, St Louis Blues 1974-77. As far as I know he never signed for anyone in Oakland, ever. A few conversations with other collectors mentioned he was a D**K just about everywhere.

He's one of the toughest hockey autographs to find as he died in a motorcycle accident in 1977.

Definitely do not see many Bob Gassoff autographs, just figured that was due to his death at a young age. If he was a difficult signer that makes his signatures even more rare
