Anyone care?

Lots of collectors do not want a restored card, even a Wagner. As for the bat, $220,000.00 way over priced in my opinion.

The auction was discussed in at least one thread, earlier in the week.

What did the Wagner sell for last summer? I'm sure there are plenty of buyers for that card at about 1/3 off that price.

I was pretty surprised regarding the Wagner bat. I think it takes guts (or something) to "pass" on $220,000 in this economy.

I assume you mean the T206 Wagner. It sold for $185,000 + 20% buyer's premium = $222,000

Are there any other Wagners that actually have sold at a loss? Granted this is a FrankenWagner and had about as much Wagner card in it as my 1975 Kurt Bevacqua bubble gum blowing champ card, but still.

Technically, this one didn't sell. The reserve wasn't met.

I'm with Jeff on this one. Card is officially overpriced.

What???? Do you feel that way because every multi-millionaire in the USA already has one? There is still the overseas market!

I would love to see what the T206 Wagner looked like as a beater because it seems the card was devalued by its double (on the record) restoration. Were there NO BIDS, or did the card fail to reach a reserve with some bids? 75K is peanuts for a beater Wagner, but not for a Frankenstein. I may be wrong, but I think most people who want this want the real thing.

I, too, would love to see the before picture. From the descriptions on the work orders it must have been a mess. Sounds to me like they rebacked it and rebuilt three borders. (Note - I currently live in the Dallas area. I'm used to seeing women who have had a lot of "work" done, but not cards. Prizner may know more.)

That is one heck of a desirable baseball bat. Someday it will sell for more than $200,000.

I'll be doing some extensive research on the topic tonight.

Dont show them your bubble gum blowing championship card, it wont work!
Tell them you collect sports cars!! that might help, then tell them tomorrow they must have misheard you! (this actually worked for an Asian buddy of mine)
