Default Vintage Yankees Warm up jacket

I picked this up a couple years ago at auction because I collect anything yankees I loved the look.

The only background info was that it was a 1950s Yankees warm up jacket, but I figured I'd see if anyone could give me more details.

Any idea what era in the 50s?
Was this team issued? Or not related to the team?

Thanks in advance for any info or if someone can point me to a reference that could be helpful.

It may be vintage but I seriously doubt it was team issued.

I will readily admit that Rob has more knowledge than I about such things. However, I like it despite being a yankee item. The leather trim on the pockets seems unusual for retail 50s jacket. At least that's true for the Pirate jackets I seen. Here is a link to a similiar jacket.

I'm with Rob on this one...

For Yankee Game Jackets of this vintage, you want to see McGregor, Spalding or (later) Aladen as the manufacturer.

Wasn't there something in the original post about it being manufactured by DeLong? Did it get edited out? DeLong made lots of high school and college varsity jackets. This one looks like their top of the line model, but highly doubtful it was ever worn by a Yankees Player or Coach.

There was a DeLong label. The spot to put your home address made me think it was a retail jacket.

I also believe the tag indicated it was size 38

Here is the tag. Accidentally removed the picture when I was fixing one of the others.

Thanks for all the opinions. I assumed pretty much the same but couldnt find other examples.

Thanks as always for the info.

There we go.... Yep, it's a very attractive Jacket, but meant for retail sale and not at all likely that it's team-issued.

I hear you! I'd almost rather have one I can actually use and wear proudly, than a relic that you'd never risk wearing for fear of damaging it.

And that's a great looking jacket!

And this is why it's best to stay in my own lane...
