Continuing with our 2010 December MEARS Winter Elite Auction, we are offering 1400+ lots of “The Sporting News” Original Photographs. Direct from the archives of the magazine, The Sporting News Collection of photographs offer some of the highest quality and most diverse assortment of image made available to the collecting public.

As the country’s leading source for sports news, the newspaper was required to cover most facets of American Sports. Therefore, our auction includes never before seen photographs from pre War era, famous Charles Conlon originals, PCL, Japanese Baseball, Stadiums, Minor Leagues, and our very rare and popular Jumbo Oversized collection. Each photograph was hand selected for its subject matter, condition, and overall eye appeal. With most being supplied by a photographer or as a first generation news service photo, the quality of the image is “the best of the best.”

Although over 1,400+ lots of original images developed approximately within 1 to 5 years of the event depicted (often within days or weeks), the majority of these images are one of a kind. The collection itself is vast, but the actual images are quite rare, with most being the only image housed in TSN collection. If you like a particular image or subject, you most likely will not see it offered again.
