Default Baseball or Softball Glove?

Posted By: Jimmy

I get lots of different items from dealers and collectors. I have a nice crescent leather glove I placed on eBay and the dealer that gave it to me stated it was baseball. Now the glove is large, but I feel it would be a model from the teens or 20s. I just wanted to know members thoughts, and I would really like to change the listing if needed. My thoughts are stuck in the middle, but feel it would be too large for baseball. Most of the real early crescent gloves are small.

Thanks Jimmy

Hi Jimmy. I actually ran across your ebay listing yesterday and was going to shoot you an email with some clarifying thoughts/opinion. This is not an early 1900s TOC crescent padded fielder's glove as the auction listed, but I see now you updated the listing. Size, shape, crescent type and web are all inconsistent. I think it is softball, and I believe it's 20s/30s. Teens seems a bit early for this based on web design, but I am not certain.

Joe,

thank you very much, it's still a great looking glove, I only had it a few days so not much time to research the item. I will post it as a 1920s Softball glove, as the style and leather type seems early for the 1930s.

Take care

Jimmy

Yep... definitely softball. Anytime the crescent pad runs all the way up the length of the pinky finger, it's a softball glove. Nice example!
