Default Let’s see your... DEBUT ticket stubs!

Hi all,

My last post got me thinking and I wanted to start a thread where all are welcome to post their ticket stubs that feature a players debut or first appearance in the Major Leagues! It’s always neat to see something that takes it all the way back to a career of a player like Ruth, Griffey or Koufax or those who are lesser known. It’s interesting because more often than not fans don’t think to keep a stub of a guy making his debut but once they morph into a star, then everyone wishes they had, (I. E. Mickey Mantle.) Being a history student it’s always neat to not only see the history but to hear the story behind it! So any player from any era is welcome!

Step up to the batter’s box and share your debut tickets!

Jake

Default MY ML Debut!

Interesting subject! Here's a DEBUT STUB from my 1st ever Major League game attended, in the Spring of 1953 at Ebbets Field in Brooklyn.

I saw Robin Roberts face Preacher Roe & the great Dodger lineup! It was quite a game, as I saw Jackie Robinson hit his 1st HR of the year. Game went back & forth, w/ the Phillies leading 6-5 into the bottom of the ninth.

With 2 out & nobody on, Jackie walked & Campanella hit a walk-off 2 run shot to win it, 7-6!

A heck of a game for a 12 yr old to see!

Mickey Mantle's debut in NYC - exhibition game vs Dodgers and Mantle's debut in a regular season game.

Cal Ripken Jr. made his MLB debut as a pinch runner (for Ken Singleton who had doubled) in the 12th inning and scored the winning run in a walk off win vs Kansas City on 08/10/81 (which was the first game back after the strike):

Love all the tickets so far, I think they’re outstanding connections to history! Keep ‘em coming! I’ve got a pretty special one to add here in a bit!

My storage of the ticket is only temporary till I get a true ticket sleeve and toploader but here's my crown jewel of Zack Greinke tickets... a full example from his MLB debut!

Darryl Strawberry's Major League Debut - May 6, 1983 at Shea Stadium for the Mets.

I attended the game and this was my actual stub.
