Default 1963 Rose Fakes

I'm looking for a 63 rose #537. I'd like to buy one but skeptical on buying ungraded. If I'm looking for an ungraded one, my thought is to buy off center, thinking that fakes would not go so far as to reprint this card or any fake that is not at least 60/40.
What's folks thoughts on this? I'm a collector not investor or re seller.

thx Billp

For cards in the 63 Rose category that I’m buying online I tend to buy slabbed and then crack open. I know that still doesn’t offer 100% protection against forgery but it’s a little extra insurance.

I bought an ungraded Reggie Jackson rookie on eBay that looked fine on the scans but that I could tell was counterfeit when it arrived. Same thing happened with a 62 Maris. I want to avoid that hassle in the future as much as possible.

When putting my 60s sets together there was only 2 cards I insisted on buying slabbed and that was the 67 Seaver and the 63 Rose. I popped my Seaver and left the Rose in its case. I then bought a nice reprint for the binder. Im a collector and not a reseller as well but I still felt with so many fakes out there I should keep it slabbed. My reprint sadly looks really good.

I didnt search for an OC example, but mine is a bit...its an SCG 4....and I love mine.
