Default Branch Rickey cards?

I would love input and suggestions of a Branch Rickey card to sit alongside my Jackie Robinson card, display in my card cave.

His 1915 Cracker Jack card is a great one but before I take that plunge, I wanted to tap into the creative knowledge base of this group.

Any other suggestions? Here is my Robbie area… just waiting for a Rickey card to sit alongside in honor of both men! (Dang, sorry for sideways image!)

Thanks for any suggestions!

Jeff

In my opinion, 1914 CJ is the one to get

Both examples above are great, and the 1941 is certainly the more affordable of the two. You could also do the 1923 V100 Willard’s Chocolates. It’s one of the nicer looking cards in the set. I haven’t scanned mine yet (oops), but I know that I saw one recently for sale on the BST.

Here’s the earliest photo I have of Rickey from 1907 during his brief time with the Highlanders:

Depending on if you’re into it or not, there are a few Team Photos of Branch Rickey with his Ohio Wesleyan team. The 1903 and 1904 teams were racially integrated while he was coaching there (as a student). There’s a great article about his time at OWU below:

The CJ is a great looking card (aren't they all?), but it's a little strange to see Rickey in uniform. The iconic Branch Rickey image, like Connie Mack, is of an older fellow in a suit and tie. Therefore, I'd personally opt for something depicting him as he is most famously remembered.

Chuck Connors once said of Branch Rickey, "Mr. Rickey has money and he has ballplayers and believes the two should not be commingled"

I have made that nice Jackie display even nicer. And the V117 Willard's Chocolate card that Brian posted is also for sale in the BST.

I like the Cracker Jack cards the most, but the other three options posted, the only cards for Branch that I know about issued during his career, are not bad either.

“Luck is the residue of design.” Branch Rickey, quoted in Sporting News, Feb. 21, 1946.

My Rickey card is also the 1941 team issue from early on in his executive career ...which is why we care about him -- one of baseball's wisest and most influential executives..

The 1931 Metropolitan Studios photo of Branch Rickey is a good portrait in a cool set but it probably wouldn't be my choice as a companion to your Jackie Robinson cards. Thought i would post it anyway since it would add to the interesting diversity of Rickey ephemera in this thread. It's the toughie in the set.

Some great choices here, thanks all…

I know next to nothing about “type 1 photos” but I wonder if a photo or magazine cover from their early days together (Rickey and Robbie) might be another cool
Option.
