Vintage Texas Hold'em
Posted By: Lyman
Greetings. We at Old Cardboard are organizing a series of monthly on-line "Deep in the Heart of Texas-Texas Hold'em Tournaments" to be held throughout 2008. They will be low-stakes events intended solely for the enjoyment of the participants. The private tournaments will be run by PokerStars. |

What an absolute freaking riot that sounds like. I'll look forward to when you kick it off in January. I'm sorry I can't help with the dry run - I have final exams this week up until my last one Saturday morning, so I can't take an evening out for that. But believe me, playing cards online with the group you listed sounds a WHOLE lot better than studying up on Negotiable Instruments! |

Sounds like fun, I registered and emailed you some info on depositing funds. It might be best that Net54 players send you each a Paypal, but whatever the group thinks is best. |

$$ to anyone NEW to PS for THIS tournament ONLY if you can't fund it in time I expect you would just paypal me the 11.00. I don't mind paying the couple cents in charges from paypal for the "good of the game"..... |

I doubt you will be able to use your Visa as there's a # on each transaction that ID's it as gambling. they don't like that (most other cards and banks don't either). You can fund with a cash transfer from Moneygram or sumptin like that (it's on the Faq page). Some if not all can now use instant eChecks. Other than that no way to fund in a day or 2. |

As Henry stated above, once you have an account, funding can be by transfer from another player from that player's cash account. Takes about 5 minutes. Either he or I are willing to do this. |

Luckily for the rest of you, I will be unable to participate on Tuesday. I look forward to playing in the next event. I recommend we switch to Full Tilt, as the dreadful graphics at PokerStars give me a thunderous headache after about 15 minutes. Best of luck to all. |

I am signed up to play and Lyman even fronted me $22 for money for the first 2 months, to play. I looked at it last night and my eyes kind of glazed over....I will look again this evening and try to figure everything out. If I don't figure it out it could be a truly interesting game tomorrow night ......btw, what does "ALL IN" mean? jk.... |

Yes, we have plenty of seats for the Old Cardboard Texas Hold'em tourney dry run this evening. If you are not already registered on PokerStars, there is not much time. First, go to PokerStars.com to download and install the PokerStars software. You will establish a PokerStars User ID in the process. Then you will need to fund your account to play in tonight's tourney (buy-in is $11; $10 to the prize pool and $1 to PokerStars). |

Lyman, check was mailed today, thanks for funding my bankroll. In regard to funding with a credit card, is it the consensus that although Pokerstars provides the option, one's bank/credit card issuer might not? |

I can't believe you are not registering tonight no matter what. Forget that the gauntlet was tossed with the "Texas" reference. It's just a given that you would enter given your position on this board. Throw the dogs a bone will ya? |

someone actually asking to hear a bad beat story? I BEG people NOT to tell them.... From the game: 8 people left I raise KQd. Top stacks calls with K8o. Flop comes Td8d and 4c. 2 overs and second nut fl draw. I go all-in. K8 thinks and calls. Turn and river are blanks and I go home.... |

Here I am 77 BB and raise 3x BB. Player to my left calls. Flop 2s 6s 6d. I bet 750. Player raises me my final 238 chips so I'm all in. He was holding As 10s. You know the rest. Spade on the River. Bye bye |

Played in two 12,000 player tournaments since our game. Finished 173 and ~200, but you need place 99th to qualify for the bigger tournament. |
