Default Ruth magazine covers?

Am looking for suggestions for some great Babe Ruth magazine covers from his playing days... not too many options found on EBay

Anyone have suggestions of dealers who have items like this?

Just picked up my first Ruth card and am looking for Vintage magazine cover as part of my “background display” like I have here with my Brett rookie

Thx all

Jeff

I would look at old newspaper issues as well, baseball magazine, sporting news, catalogs and guide issues. There is a lot of material with Ruth, just have to keep looking.

Good luck!

There will be a few Ruth periodicals(including one of Ruth signing 100 baseballs and one ice-fishing, both are Mid-Week Pictorial's) and other misc. premiums and magazines in my next auction that opens tomorrow morning at 9:00 EST

On Ebay, type in Baseball Magazine Ruth. You should find several possibilities, although they can get pretty pricey depending on condition.

I agree with mr2686 you just have to keep checking ebay every day and they do pop up. Better condition and rarity will cost you more as they have been moving up in the last couple of years. I have been collecting Ruth magazines for years and the most expensive ones are the MID-WEEK PICTORIALS, they can run from $300.00 and up depending on condition and cover. Good Luck!!

Here are a couple, the Youth's Companion can be found for around $20 to $30 in lesser condition while the Capper's Farmer is much harder to find and will cost more.

One of my favorites too. I snagged the whole magazine ~ 40 years ago. Couldn't bear to remove the cover, so I matted and framed the whole magazine.

Default Babe Covers

Have some of these various magazines, looking good so keep them coming boys, and wanted to post this item. Enclosed is a nice looking Ruth item from his Red Sox playing days, sheet music. This particular one is a little tough to come by but you can find other sheets in the 75.00-150.00 range that present rather nicely. Cool way to collect period Ruth items on a budget.

Welcome to Net54.

So that you don't have to take the magazine out of the frame, here is the story about Ruth from inside...

I definitely like Gary's the most but all of the pictured ones are really cool. Here is one of mine from 1921.

I dare say, based especially on the face lighting, pinstripe positioning, hat shadow, etc., those images both emerged from the same photograph...

I will have to respectfully disagree, based on the lips and teeth...

It certainly appears to be the same image. The only difference is that the colored version has been enhanced to show his teeth which aren’t as prevalent on the other image. His lips have also been altered on the colored image.

They enhanced/added teeth (and applied lipstick ), adjusted the shape of his ears a bit, rounded out the shape of his hat, and made other little adjustments, but it is undoubtedly sourced from the same photograph. Just look how the light and shadows across his face are an exact match...and, of course, the pinstripes

I know it's a cool looking cover. Not sure why you would question it's "legitimacy".

Not a magazine cover, but if you end up widening your range you could find some cool things to display. Check out this fun 8" x 10" newspaper caricature art from 1930.

I suppose “legitimacy” may not have been quite the filter I meant - I don’t collect magazines and thought a more experienced collector could comment on the mag, if it’s been seen/sold before, etc. Want to be sure it’s not a reprint.

Definitely a lot of very nice magazine covers here. I really like the Sporting Life one.

Default Babe Ruth

This 1935 issue has a great story on Ruth. It should not be too difficult to find.
