Default OT (a little bit)... 1949 Leaf Musial

A bit newer than I normally collect. Just picked this up and wanted to get some thoughts on it. I imagine it's probably from a binder and/or soaked?
Seller guaranteed a numerical grade...I imagine 1 to 1.5...?
I noticed some print lines in the border on the top left, front, which I think are kind of cool. Some other ones have that too.

Beautiful Musial Leon!

I would guess a 1, maybe a 1.5 is a correct assessment. I have a Jackie that suffers from similar issues, and similar centering, that graded a 1.

Nice card but define "similar centering".

Definition: Both my Jackie and that Musial have excellent centering, the Musial even better than mine. I was pointing out the similarities in relation to the grade I received. Does that help?

A 1949 issue, presented erroneously as a 1948 set for the last half century, and usually discussed in the pre-1946 section. The Premiums placed in the boxes have long been recognized correctly as 1949 though. Leaf dating gets complicated.

It would probably get a 1. Nice card.

Yes, I corrected myself up there. 1949 it is...and I think a 1 also..thanks for the kudos

I do love the centering on it....

If it gets dinged for anything like the registration or maybe being soaked, whatever. It’ll be an awesome 1 or 1.5. Full card with razor sharp corners in my humble opinion. Presents great.

1949 LEAF Stan "The Man" Musial variations with three shades of Blue. I think Stan is the only BB player to hit 5 HR's in one day (in a double-header).

HEY TED Z! Actually Nate Colbert duplicated the feat. In an unbelievable coincidence, he was a little boy who was in attendance at the DH where Stan originally accomplished the feat!

I have never liked cards in the 1949 Leaf set because of the prevalent registration issues. In fact it drives this "tolerant to just about everything in the vintage world" collector nuts to look at their blurry images. Though if they all looked in focus like Ted's middle example, I think I would be a convert.

I was just going by what OldCardboard says. Two different dates on backs...1948 and 1949.... doesn't really matter much to me.

edited to add, I misinterpreted the OldCardboard Site. It does indeed say 1949 for both copyright dates. (I will stick to pre war now)

Great card, sir, soaked or otherwise. A great ballplayer, and by all accounts, a great guy too. My mother was a huge Brooklyn Dodgers fan, having worked at the Brooklyn Naval Shipyard (where my 2nd ship, USS Independence CV-62, was later built) and she went to games at Ebbets Field during WW2. After they moved to LA, and broke her baseball heart, she loved Stan "The Man" and the Cardinals, just up the Mississippi River about 300 miles or so from Memphis.
