Default Topps Trivia

I can think of one player who, for 3 consecutive years, was pictured hatless on his Topps cards. The kicker is, he was on one team the whole time - before the first of his hatless appearances, and after his final hatless mugshot.

Not counting rookie or other multi-player cards.

Your mission, should you decide to accept it, is to name that player and card run.

I have a feeling this isn't the player you are thinking of but Danny Cater has four consecutive mugshot capless cards from 1967 to 1970. I figured it would be a Houston Astro from the late sixties when there was that bizarre lawsuit against Topps concerning the Astros logo and name, but I didn't see any of a player three years in a row. Then I figured it might involve the A's move from Kansas City to Oakland and I happened upon Cater. ETA: I found another with three in a row but I don't think he is the one you are looking for either, 1965-1966-1967 Billy O'Dell.

Great job on Cater! His first 1967-69 match my guy. In 1970 he switched teams. Also for that reason I have to DQ O'Dell as he wasn't with the same club throughout the run.

I can understand the hatless thing when a player gets traded during the offseason But Cater played extensively with the A's the year before his 3 hatless card run. Same scenario with the guy I'm thinking of.

I'll give a clue to the guy I'm thinking of. He resembles this fellow:

I don't know the answer but I've always disliked those 60's hatless cards. My guess would be Aurelio Rodriquez.

I might have it this time. He is the same thing as Cater, 67-69 with the same team and a different team in 70.

Very good try, but Pascual spent the entire 1966 season with the Twins, so being hatless in 1967 is understandable. Like Cater, my guy was with his team the season before the 3 hatless run. So, neither he nor Cater needed to be hatless for any of those cards.

And Camilo didn't look like Curly Howard.

With Pascual, it doesn't really count either because that's just 2 pictures alternating back and forth over four years. Poor guy still has food in his teeth.

One had a fine career in the Big Leagues. The other was a victim of circumstance.

Ugh, every time I came across a Sixties cap less player on my other searches I would check to see if that player had three in a row but I missed Worthington. On the 1965 and 1966 cards he is wearing a Reds uniform which explains the cap less photos and on the 1967 it looks like he is wearing a Twins uniform but it was still cap less. I wonder if he was doing a Mike Marshall after he became a Twin and purposely avoided the Topps photographers.
