I think it was Sidra. That's a tough name to spell.

And since nobody answered Sean's question, the person who was trying to sell the Wagner without even a scan or any proof of ownership was asked to remove himself from the board.

Leon- was your PSA 9 Wagner factory cut, or handcut from a sheet?

Barry, I saw the Wagner that Leon bought. It actually came from under some tires right out of a Polar Bear pack. I'm pretty sure the wheels were from the Donner party, because they had arrow heads imbedded in them. No Kidding!!

Now Bob,

You know as well as I do that if Rudolf had attended the Donner Party he would have been eaten.

Couldn't tell if the Chicago fire or the Donner party was a more believable story. Must be the Donner party cause no one has questioned the wheels yet.

Whenever we go out to eat and have to put our name on the waiting list for a table, I always give the name "Donner." It never fails to make me chuckle when the announcement that "Donner party, your table is ready" is made.

It also never fails to prompt an annoyed look from my wife.

Rob, I hope you didn't use that name at an all-you-can-eat restaurant.

David

PS,

Back in High School and the first couple of years in College, my friends and I used to go to Chi Chi's Restaurant and the person signing in would call himself "Richard Keg". So then when called, we would, of course, be the Keg party.

It was mostly women and kids who survived the Donner Party, as they could best physically survive the conditions, including lack of food. It was the men who were more apt to die.

Eric Burns (Ken's brother) made a documentary, The Donner Party, which is recommended if you're interested in the event.

Joe,

I have heard stories that the Chicago fire was started by a Comet, Asteroid or Meteorite. Also, the same night, a large fire was started in Wisconsin, I believe, which wiped out a small town. I think something like 700 people died in that fire.

Chicago got more publicity because it was a big city and had more property damage as far as dollars goes but the loss of life was worse as far as the Wisconsin fire is concerned.

Really dry ground and plants plus the heat and sparks from the stuff falling from the sky is supposed to have ignited both fires.

David

Aside from the juvenile silliness of using that name in a restaurant, the other thing I get a kick out of is that the 20-something hostesses never have a clue. The only reaction I ever see is from other people my age or older (I'm 43), who are more likely to understand the significance.

I always loose my appetite when I hear the words 'Donner Party'.  I can't imagine hearing that as I waiting to be seated at dinner. Fortunately for me, I have poor poor hearing and have to rely on my wife to hear the table announcements.
