Default Deacon McGuire autograph

Can anybody help in verifying this signature ??? PSA was no help, they said in their letter that they can't deny the signature but they have nothing to compare it with ?

There is precious little holographic material out there for Deacon. It amounts to a handful of pieces which were mostly signed at different periods of his life, making it difficult to create any sort of solid exemplar file. PSA was just erring on the side of caution. This item exhibits certain characteristics that might lend to it being authentic, yet other traits which can not be found in any of the other few examples. (No, I'm not posting exemplars.)

.

Rhys Yeakley has had at least two examples. I believe this is one of them (with JSA LOA):

I communicated with Gary a bit and it is so hard with things like this. If the photo he has is his signature, it would have been signed as a player c. 1905. I had two from his estate and still have one, both were signed VERY late in life, right before he died. When dealing with a nearly forty year gap and old age, you just never really know.

Here are a few more exemplars to consider. The first is an 1887 ALS from Jim Stinson; the other 2 are undated cuts from Stinson and Clean Sweep. I believe the one originally posted is authentic.

The "e" in James is what is giving me pause. This is a tough one, let us know how it turns out!
