Default 1940's Marilyn Monroe, Exhibit, help

Posted By: steve

Slight O/T, but please if anybody knows - and thanks in advance.

Was just thrilled to be high bid, ebay, a 1940's 20th Century Fox Exhibit card, colorized,
Marilyn Monroe, probably EX-NM range. Been looking for a nice old Marilyn - woo hoo!

I would post scan, but my tech savvy not super swift - maybe see closed ebay search "Marilyn Monroe" for ebay item scan.

But I cannot find any info - PSA pop search turned up empty, Old Cardboard doesn't really say - so big please to you knowledgeable folks here if any info available, ie exact year, scarcity(pop), value, would PSA grade it?

Thanks, Steve

Here's a link to your card: http://tinyurl.com/2l6ehq

I've never seen it before, but then again I don't search for exhibits beyond baseball types. I would bet Adam Warshaw knows exactly what this is.

Steve,

Try asking on the Net54 non-sports board. Someone over there will have the info on it.

Thanks for the ebay scan link - I need to learn how to post a link.

And I did not know of the non-sports vintage postings, thanks.

Amazing how giddy you can get over a not so spendy card.

It is a late 1950s issue. The format was called "Colortone" and was touted in their 1950s catalogs. Your card comes from a set of Hollywood Dancers. It is highly collected by film fans. To see her other famous cheesecake exhibit card as well as a Julie Newmar from the same era, please check out my web site. Follow the link to "card images" and use the scroll bar at the top to get to the "Interesting Exhibit Cards" page, images 85 and 86.
