Default Unopened Wax Pack Condition Question

I keep seeing packs that were graded that don't look like the grade they were assigned and it started me wondering if the condition the pack came back to you in is nothing like what you submitted, did you ever decide to break it out of the holder to see if there were other damages to the insides besides ruining the wrapper such as broken gum or ruined cards?

Some of the damages I am seeing are just sloppy handling of the packs as they are inserted into the holder.

Every year, I torture over the decision to keep my packs raw, but I could certainly sell more of them if they were graded.

Any thoughts?

I am keeping my personal collection of packs ungraded because I can't handle the idea of sending them off and then them having to be mailed at least 4 times -- to PSA, to Steve, from Steve to PSA, back to me. I also worry about the damage you have described. If I decide to sell some older packs, they will probably get slabbed to increase the value.

See that is my main issue -- if I can't expect my packs to come back to me in the condition they were submitted, then I can't get them graded. As a matter of safety, I take many pictures of all packs purchased from me so that there is never any doubt of what my packs looked like upon purchase. I will have a selection of my packs on display at the National at Booth 1114, You can also find a near complete listing of my packs at Net 54 by searching on unopened wax packs. Regards, Steve Sabow
