Default Help with a ballpark..............

Posted By: Tom Boblitt

don't have the scan in yet but received a question from a local collector. Sent me a photo of the Louisville team circa 1899. It appears to have Honus Wagner seated in the front row. In the background is a grandstand that is clearly painted the words Louis Steyerman, Headquarters. In addition to the Louisville Players there is a guy in black uniform with the team name 'Newton' on the front.

Would be VERY appreciative if any of the SABR or other knowledgeable folks out there could help me identify the stadium. I only have a photocopy of the picture (I would pay big bucks for it too.......). I will try to scan in a day or two and add it up here.

Thanks!
Tom

after checking on yahoo, found the name Louis Steyerman associated with Thomasville, GA. at the following link:

Yep, Thomasville is the "big city" in that area (SW Georgia) and Newton is a small town about 40 miles up the highway.

I live here in Tallahassee, FL ... which is only 25 minutes away from Thomasville, GA ... so maybe I can find out something about the Newton ballclub and the Honus Wagner visit...

Default Thomasville, Ga.

Hello,

I am researching the Pitt. Pirates, Braves, Browns and Orioles having their Spring Training in Thomasville, Ga.
I noticed someone said they had a Pitt Pirate Spring Training Photo from Thomasville, can I see it?
Greatly appreciate any and all help.
