Default Did anybody watch?

Did anybody here watch Antonino Rocca, Buddy Rogers, Johnny Valentine and the announcer Ray Morgan in the late '50s and early '60s?

Yeah. Let's see how much in the memory banks is still unconfused. Loved Ray Morgan as the announcer. The staged abuse he used to put up with made my brother and I laugh (was it Saturday night?).

Some of the wrestlers that stick in my mind:
Bobo Brazil, Sweet Daddy Siki, Killer Kowalski (and his claw hold), of course Bruno Sammartino (from Abruzzi, Italy), Capt. Wild Red Berry and his Flying Kangaroos, Arnold Skolen (the good guy), Baba The Giant, Haystacks Calhoun. Others will probably occur to me now that I've stirred the embers.

Have to say that the old wrestling show is almost a kabuki theatre compared to the wild stuff that they say goes on today. I've seen snippets and it looks like the performers spend most of the show giving speeches?

Glad to have grown up then and not now.

Read that Skaaland often lost matches. How about The Bastien Brothers (Red and Lou), Cowboy Bob Ellis, Karl Von Hess and Tolos Brothers?

I wasn't around that early but I remember watching Saturday Nights at Midnight, Bruno Sammartino, Superstar Billy Graham, Baron Von Raschke, Ivan Putski, Chief Jay Strongbow, Ken Patera , George The Animal Steele.
