Default Selling a bunch of 1951-1959 Topps and Bowmans - Mainly commons.

I am selling on behalf of another person a HUGE bunch of cards. He collected these from his childhood.

First he took everything to the local store to have the shop owner sell them on site..... so I am figuring most of the big names and the real blazers have that were in the lot have already been picked over.

Some of the material is fairly nice (I just pulled out all the 57's and 59's and they many are pretty good) One person already purchased all of the 1958's.

Here are the years that I will be listing cards from:

1951 Bowman - Mostly Gone!
1952 Bowman
1953 Bowman
1954 Bowman
1955 Bowman
1952 Topps - SOLD!
1953 Topps
1954 Topps - Mostly SOLD!
1955 Topps
1956 Topps
1957 Topps - SOLD!
1959 Topps - SOLD!

Not really any super big hitters here, mainly just commons. Some years are a lot heavier in terms of material than others. He does have a bunch of 57's and 59's , 55 Bowmans, and about 100 52 Topps. I will start putting some stuff out here in a list shortly. This would be ideal if you are looking for mainly EX type of grade raw cards (there are a few better but no aboslute blazers that I have seen that are going to net you PSA 9's for example) and I will try and price them accordingly. I am assuming the older stuff will be more in the Very Good to VG-EX range but I am trying to take my time and describe it the best I can when I actually list the cards out later.

I am currently pulling them from albums (where they have been for a LONG time) and sorting them into various piles - I take selling cards seriously so I am trying to be as accurate as I can with pricing them for him as well as letting buyers know condition. I am sorting them out as follows.

-Better cards - There are a few stars here and there
-Semi Stars - team cards - multi player cards
-Decent shape Commons
-Commons with really really bad centerning and/or wax stains on front or back

- and lastly - The bottom feeder space filler types

Some of the older issues have writing on the back, these will be noted as well (most cases a pencil star, a "B" or the persons name (must have been his way of identifying them as a child)

Figured I would try and sell some here first instead of taking all of the time to set up ebay auctions, deal with fees etc. In case you have not dealt with me before on the boards here and are wondering of my selling reputation you can look me up on ebay as well my ID on the bay is

Thickestofalltime - I have over 4300 feedback

I will take these on a first come first serve basis with pricing. I am also posting on the PSA boards so PM me if interested, first come first serve.

If you have any set building needs feel free to shoot me a PM, otherwise happy hunting.

Thanks in advance for your interest. Feel free to ask any questions.

I will accept payment by paypal gift or by postal money order. Please add $7 to your total purchase for priority mail insured shipping with delivery confirmation. If you order more than $100 of cards shipping is on me.

Better players -

#25 VIc Rashi - $5
#56 Ralph Branca - $5
$60 Chico Carrasquel - $5

Commons priced at $2 each

mostly what I would grade as VG - see representative scans below, some will be a bit better some a few worse

36 - 47 - 48 - 49 - 54 - 61 - 70 - 119 - 159 - 164 - 180 - 185 - 188 - 189 - 215 - 220 - 225 - 227 - 228 - 229 - 230 - 237 - 243 - 249 - 251 - 309

A few representative scans....

How about some 56's! - Lowered pricing!

almost all gone, this is all I now have left!

#25 Ted Kluzewski – No bottom Border - $3
#33 – Roberto Clemente – Print Roller line through middle of card small ding upper back left, nicely centered - $115

Here are the 55 Bowmans - and yes there are a BUNCH of them. I would grade these in the VG-EX range, some are going to be a bit better and others are going to be slightly worse. Again, trying to sort them out as best as I can by condition. Sorry this post will be scan heavier as a lot of 55's to show.

Here is the list - I already have a back up of people wanting these so ..send me a note if interested but sorry, they might already be gone.

Here are the better players to start out.

Time for some 52 Bowmans!

These are rougher than a lot of the other offerings thus far, and should be priced accordingly.

I would grade most of these cards at VG- Some VG-EX a couple of lots listed later below will be worse

Here are the better players

#4 Robin Roberts - $7
#21 Nellie Fox - couple of light surface creases - $4
#53 Richie Ashburn - $9
#142 - Early Wynn, light crease, "J" writen on pen on back - $3
#162 Monte Irvin - Heavy crease through center - $3
#252 Frank Crosetti -surface crease upper right side and last in the set! - $8

Nicer Commons - These are more in the VG-EX range mainly( some will be a bit nicer I am not going to kid you, I might have missed a small crease here or there so a few might be more like VG.) but priced to move at $2.25 each

3 - 9 - 16 - 17 - 18 - 20 - 35 - 42 - 45 - 46 - 47 - 49 - 50 - 51 - 54 - 55 - 58 - 59 - 66 - 71 - 147 - 149 - 150 - 155 - 158 - 159 - 163 - 165 - 166 - 166 - 169 - 174 - 174 - 182 - 183 - 186 - 187 - 192 - 194 - 195 - 200- 201 - 201 - 205 - 206 - 211 - 212

Nicer high number commons - not many but I don't think they will last long at $7 each

220 -221 - 222 - 238 - 243 - 243 - 247 - 248 - 249 -

Rougher Commons - These will typically have problems with poor centering, light surface crease (nothing too noticeable) but still not in horrible shape - $1 each

6 - 15 -24 - 39 - 41 - 167 - 175 - 180 - 194 - 200 - 207-

Higher number rougher commons - $2 each

228 - 234 - 241

Default Good morning 1953 Topps!

Here are the 1953 Topps. The good news is there is quite a few of them. The bad news is the majority of cards have a letter "B" written in pen right next to the number (see representative scan) I will have these broken out as with all the lots as accurate as I can be.

Most of these cards are going to be in the G to VG range ( and this is not accounting for pen marks)

Better Player cards

#10 Smoky Burgess - Couple of light creases - $4
#61 Early Wynn - Light surface crease on right side - $10
#78 - Red Schoendienst - Light D written in pencil on back - $8
#81 - Joe Black - B written in Pen on back - crease bottom right part of card - $7
104 Yogi Berra - crease bottom left some paper loss on front Letter B written in pen on back (see scans) $25
#138 - George Kell - crease in bottom, Letter B in Pen on reverse - $8
#151 Hoyt Wilhelm - Letter B in pen on back otherwise nice - $10
Whitey Ford - crease top to bottom in middle another small surface crease - $25
#210 Bob Cerv - Much like the Kiner - nicer than most! - $8
#258 Jim Gilliam RC - High Number RC very good condition - $40

Nicer Commons

These I would categorize as VG with no flaws - clean backs just a little rough handling around the edges typical of a VG card

The following Commons priced at $3.50 each -

11 - 20 - 24 - 34 - 35 - 38 - 55 - 64 - 105 - 131 - 142 - 144 - 145 - 156

The following Commons priced at $4 each

176 - 178 - 180 - 183 - 185 - 187 - 192 - 194 - 196 - 201 - 209 - 218 - 219

The following High Number commons priced at $10 each

221 - 223 - 226 - 227 - 229 - 231 - 232 - 236 - 237 - 239 - 240 - 242 - 256 - 262 - 272

The following commons are a bit rougher. Most got moved to this pile as they have some sort of surface crease (although not too noticable) they will still present well but I have priced a bit lower at $2 each - including a couple of high numbers

111 - 198 -

Time for some 53 Bowman Color

These are overall a rougher bunch. Most of the cards have pencil on the back, and or the owners name stamped with a black ink stamper (too bad they don't say Jeff Burdick!) Guess I would grade them G to VG in most instances

Pricing these to move at 5-10% of Beckett in most cases. These are rough but still tough cards and they have decent eye appeal. I have provided scans of almost all of the better players listed. Commons will be similar in quality and actually even a bit nicer in most cases

Better Players - all scanned except Roberts

#10 Richie Ashburn - Clean front centered off to one side, back has stamp - $6
#18 - Nelson Fox - Slight inch long surface crease on left border, clean back - $12
#46 Roy campanella, Crease on bottom right, back has stamp and pencil and greenish star -$12
#51 Monte Irvin - Heavy Creasing - slight pencil on back - $4
#55 Leo Durocher - creasing on bottom green "HX" on back - $4
#57 Lou Boudreau - Clean front stamp on back - $4
#61 George Kell - surface crease bottom right, clean back - $6
#65 Robin Roberts- creasing on front small size paper loss on front - $5
#80 Ralph Kiner - Clean front Pencil "X" on back - $6
#92 Gil Hodges - small crease right lower area, pencil BK and X on back - $20
#97 - Eddie Matthews - Heavy creasing on front, top border damage, back stamped and also BK in pencil - $12
#99 Warren Spahn - Front clean back has stamp and some funky brown stuff (mold)??? Still its Spahnie! - $14
#114 Bob Feller - light crease bottom center and upper left back has BK and X in pencil - $24
#121 Yogi Berra - front has crease bottom right , centered to one side back has stamp and BK in pencil - $30
#153 Whitey Ford - Pretty Heavy creasing, back clean - $30
#160 Cal Abrams - Last card in the set! surface crease on left side bottom border /rip damage - $10

Better Commons - not perfect by any means, fronts may have slight creasing, backs are all clean - Priced to move at $3 a card
43 - 54 - 66 - 67 - 77 - 79 - 86 - 87 - 94 - 95 - 110 -

Rougher Commons -
These will all have either pencil on back, a stamp of the owners name on back or both, there will also be some that have some light front creasing from time to time, but these are still presentable especially at $1.25 each

7- 8 - 12 - 13 - 14 - 15 - 16 - 22 - 23 - 26 - 28 - 34 - 37 - 42 - 48 - 49 - 60 - 63 - 64 - 71 - 72 - 73 - 74 - 78 - 83 - 84 - 111

Same as above but high numbers! - $2 each
136 - 140 - 142 - 158

The 'Rough Riders"

This is the so called rest of the rest, will have heavy creasing , writing on back, basically just worse than the above common piles. - Priced to move - take em all for $9

17 - 45 - 47 - 68 - 70 - 104 - 109 - 113 - 122 - 131 - 135 - 137

Updated and lowered some pricing, Will be listing 54 Bowmans and 55 Topps today, along with a 56 Topps Mantle PSA 3. This is basically getting down to the end of what is left

1954 Bowmans
Another decent group, most have corner dings or soft corners so going to price these at VG range mainly - a few in here are a bit nicer, a few worse but overall again very consistent condition

Better players –

#1 Phil Rizzutto - Top corners dinged pencil letter B on back - $18

#50 Geroge Kell - Centered poor - surface crease upper right - $4
#57 Hoyt Wilhelm - $5
#62 - Enous Slaughter - Overall nice penciled H on back - $5
#95 - Robin Roberts - Crease left side near face - $3
#101 - Don larsen, centered pretty well lower left corner ding overall nice ! - $9
#110 - Red Schoendienst - Missing part of corner, couple of small creases - rough card - $1
#129 Hank Bauer - couple of creases not great centering - $3
#138 Gil Hodges - Centered not good, crease along bottom of card and also big crease top left area - $4
#154 Don Newcombe - $3
#170 Duke Snider - small surface crease right side on arm area - $16

Commons -

This is the nicer pile of commons, most are going to have corner dings maybe a light crease somewhere I missed (tried to weed these out into the next pile) each priced at $1.75

Rougher commons - Still decent, but a little rougher overall than the group above - May have small surface crease, some will have some pencil on the back - Priced at $1 each

1955 Topps

This is the last of the offerings I have. As a whole I would grade these as VG-EX, mostly leaning closer to EX in most cases. Most of the cards are really quite nice

Better Players

#5 - Jim Gilliam - surface marks bottom border damage - $3
#22 - Moose Skowron - $3 surface crease lower left side

Not trying to break the rule of one bump per date, but needed to update everyone where they might see it as the emails are flying in to me.

I am awaiting a final offer on remaining 51 and 53 Bowmans

After that I have a person offering to buy everything that is left

I have one more current email purchase list to clean up, so will update the site with that.

If you get in after this post...thanks for the interest, but sorry everything may be gone. just wanted to give everyone a heads up.

Dave

Default Update!

Update to the post...

The gentleman I sold these baseball cards for was so happy that he called me today and indicated he had found.....

More cards.....

I have just picked them up...There are some additional baseball cards, a bunch of football cards. a few boxing and wrestling exhibilts, a few non sports, some Kennedy Cards -

Some of these are really really rough,

Some are also very very nice.

Early glance is not a lot of stars, mostly all commons. I am likely to send in some football to get graded though and then will sell those for him later.

Just wanted to give a heads up, I will likely be starting to post some more stuff in the near future, but I have a busy couple of weeks lined up (i was on vacation the week I sold his other stuff) so just keep you eyes on the message boards and I will list stuff when I have a chance.

Thanks to ALL of you who purchased stuff earlier, the feedback I have received has been positive. Seems like everyone is pretty happy with the cards as well as the packaging and most importantly the pricing.

Dave
