Default Ken-Wei Gehrig Ad Piece

On one hand one of these was auctioned in Heritage a ways back and deemed vintage...there are a few online for sale at quite variable prices ranging from $70-$500.

I found an old thread stating they are fantasy pieces.

I may have gotten duped today...I found this at an antique store...in an old frame...with this gerber baby image behind it int he frame.

Does anyone know anything about this?

Absolute fantasy piece. I still like it however and have one myself. My mom custom framed it for me while I was in college thinking it was more important than i did

Ones with the metal eyelet are modern fantasy pieces. Though worth a few bucks as display pieces

Links?

It's been a long time since I've seen any decent sized AH make that mistake/oversight. Not in the last 8-10 years anyway... perhaps I have missed a few.

Yes, Steve. Please provide links to recent sales of these by major, legit auction houses.

The one I recall seeing recently is the linked one in Goldin. But they clearly say it's a replica in the first line, so no criticism of them based on this the clear disclosure. I've edited my post to remove any implication.....

Complete idiocy... there are at least 25 examples on ebay as we speak, with many being offered for under $15. Just 2 minutes of homework would reveal that this piece is neither rare nor original.

Same might be said for altered cards....

Perhaps one day in the future, Moser will be considered a "card artist".... the Picasso of his time. Thus, the Moser-trimmed cards will sell for a big premium, while more pedestrian cards trimmed by Thorne and Mathis will sell for less.

As long as they are PSA-slabbed, a premium will be paid, with some deemed more desirable than others. At this rate, it's probably not far off.

Ya it's sad...I dunno if these moserized wcards will sell for more of a premium than they already are...But it seems most people just don't care if a card's been tampered with as long as it's in a PSA slab.
