Default Spokane Card Show

Going to my first card show in Spokane since maybe 2004. Its been a long time. You can see the flyer says this is the first annual. Wish I was with Chris Gamble in Cincinnati, but the distance is a burden. Anyway, going with an open mind. We will see how much vintage is there.

Update on the show: I only walked away with some common rookies of Ohtani, Acuna, Franco, and early 2000 relic Griffey Jr.

First, it was nice to have one and be there with my 9 yo son. I was trying to teach him about value. He went with $30 and I kinda knew I would need to assist him in some way due to explosion of card prices (for good or bad). Before we walked in I told him don't buy any packs - they are overpriced right now. He left happy with an Ovechkin relic after discovering Tom Brady relics were out of his price range. He might be into auto cards, but I'm not sure.

Prices ranged from deals to absurd. Really all over the place. Ungraded Update Trout RC was $1000, when I have been seeing them sell for $600 consistently on ebay. This seemed to be the story on most uber famous cards: Brady, Jordan, etc.

An extreme amount of 2020-22 product. Lots of junk wax boxes.

Slim on memorabilia. Slim on vintage, although it occasionally popped up as singles of stars only. I didn't really see anyone with stuff from the 70s. My son was looking for hockey and didn't find a lot.

Wish I could go to the National. Those of you going, hope you find some real treasures.

I was at this show too. It was a tough one for me as I'm primarily a baseball card collector and most tables were ultra modern basketball/football. I was pleasantly surprised at the amount of tables. I met a few really nice people that just wanted to talk cards, so that was nice.

Almost walked out with a 69 Topps Reggie but it was a little too beat up for my tastes. Highlight of the day for me was a SGC 2.5 1948 Leaf Jackie. It's #1 on my list right now, but the guy wanted way too much ($15k).

Ironically I left with a football and basketball card despite being there for baseball only.
