Default Has anyone seen a Babe Ruth Death Pamphlet before?

I stumbled onto this a few days ago and was wondering if anyone else has seen one before.

This ebay listing is calling it a funeral program, but I don't think that's right.

I did some digging and managed to find one other example that had full scans.

It looks more like a 'scare people into religion' propaganda piece made by some church group in Michigan based on the stamp on the back... but, I'd guess it is probably from the period.

Do you think it actually has any value in the Ruth collectible world? 4k in that ebay listing seems a high to me, but maybe a few hundred bucks?

Or, is it just some oddball trash?

Just curious what you all might think about the item.

Personally never seen them before but at $0.65 per hundred must have been thousands printed for distribution in churches or door to door evangelists…don’t think it’s worth a lot.

I had one in rough shape as well. I think I got 100.00 for it several years ago. There aren't a lot out there as I remember I tried to research mine when I got it. I sincerely doubt it was from his funeral. I think it is a cool piece but probably worth 100-200 or so.

Default Ruth

Cannot speak to this particular item but these generically go by the name of Tracts …. basically testimonials about religion and mostly but not exclusively Christianity. They were purchased in bulk ( and still can be ) from Christian book stores to be handed out or left to be discovered to encourage people to reevaluate their life and priorities. Not only famous athletes but other celebrities can be featured …. almost always with a personal story about their faith and history. Cool item with Ruth, no idea of value…
