Default Show me your misspelled cards

This 1973 Topps Oliva just caught my attention for the misspelling of Minnesota on the front of the card. Just curious if there are other notable cases of such blatant lack of “spell-checking,” back in the day.

This one never really commanded much attention until now. With his call to the Hall, it might be one of the more notable HOF misspellings.

I was going to include it in a Topps HOF pitcher run I’m working on. Just can’t get past “Katt”, though.

The 59 Wayne Terwilliger 'ATHLFTICS' was never corrected.

Not a card, but because it appeared in such a prominent spot - the marquee at Citi Field - I thought it at least deserves an Honorable Mention here...

How does a newspaper not get this guys name right after 20 years in the majors?

The only times that come to my mind with Willy spelled like this are the cartoon penguin Chilly Willy, the song Little Willy by the 70's British group Sweet and the guy named Wonka that had a chocolate factory.

Early Wynn's 1959 Topps card says that he played for Cleevland in 1957.

It was corrected fairly early in the press run but isn't overly rare.

Default Misspelled cards

The 1956 checklist has a few -- maybe more than I found. And cards 235 and 236 are in the wrong order.

Always looking for 1956 salesman samples, miscuts, sheet cuts, panel and printing errors.

Wow! Pity they had no “spellcheck” back then. Thanks for sharing.

They utterly misspelled "Gene Tenace" on this one...

Spelling "Yastrzemski" correctly without needing to look it up since the 1980s.
