Default Here is the danger of believing a seller's line without research

The seller is hyping Lefty O'Doul's high school graduation photo:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=8721771093&rd=1&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT&rd=1

Only one small problem: Lefty never went to high school and never graduated. He dropped out in jr. high and went to work. By the time he would have graduated high school he was pitching semi-pro ball and would be signed by a PCL team shortly thereafter.

You have to do your homework.

This auction also has one of my least favorite things sellers do.They start by saying "This item would make a great addition to any" then proceed to list every team and league the guy played in,every set he was in,every one of his teammates, etc etc then finish with the word "collection"

This guy lists the Red Sox fans among people who's collections this would make a great addition to.I know Lefty was pivotal in them finishing in 8th place in 1923 with his 30 some odd at-bats,but i dont know if a graduation picture is really a great addition to their collection,i might go with a good add

look at the face, look at the eyes, maybe it wasn't a high school graduation but some other occasion, I bought it from the estate of his second wife so it must be him, etc., etc., etc.

Yeah, that's the ticket, from his wife, Morgan Fairchild, who I've seen naked...

I did look at the face and compare it with early images I have; it ain't him. And another occasion when a young man wears a cap and gown? Puh-lease...
