I know those are rare, but are they really rarer than say 1951-52 Sioux City Soos team issued cards? I'm sure they are in much higher demand, but how often do the 49 Bowman PCL cards show up? |

49 Bowman PCL are really tough, but I bet there is some obscure regional that is even tougher. I'm just not sure which one, though. |

but the 1972 Puerto Rican winter league set is pretty tough, and has some really key players included, including Schmidt's first card, Satchell Paige and some other Negro League HOFers. |

The 1949-51 Hages Dairy PCL cards are very tough and the checklists in SCD aren't complete. |

My Milwaukee Brewers Grand Studio postcards are pretty darn tough. The '44 set has the Stengel, which I've only seen once. |

In 1956 the Lincoln Chiefs put out a card of Dick Stuart which is the only card they ever issued and I know of only 6 cards...2 belong to me, 1 belongs to whoever notified SCD of its existence and I think Mark B has 3(?) of them which all came from Stuart's estate. |

Your response is perfectly acceptable Mark, and glad you made it over to the new forum. I'm sure a lot of people here would love to see some of your minor league cards. I can't remember who it was, but a few years ago someone was interested in purchasing one of my Stuart cards, but I was holding the extra in case I run into another Lincoln collector with something to trade..hopefully you'll get something you need out of one of your Stuart cards. |

There are a lot of teams they made cards for that I've never seen. I've seen plenty of Sioux City, but Miami, San Diego etc. are like ghosts. |

The Stengel is a Signal Oil, from 1948 or 1949 (I forget which). Lombardi and Billy Martin are also in the set. They pop up occasionally on ebay. I haven't followed them closely, but I think you shouldn't have difficulty finding Stengel for under a hundred dollars. But it could take a few months. |

Dan, the Stengel is from the beautiful 1948 Signal Oil set of 24 Oakland Oaks. I dont currently have a dupe but shouldn't be too hard to locate a nice copy. If you want I will see what I can find out here. A couple of shows coming up. Mark |
