Default Waner Photos

This Christmas my dad, who is 73, surprised me with some old photographs of the Waner brothers that were passed-down to him by his uncle Al who died many years ago. I had never seen them before. Apparently, Al (who I vaguely remember from my childhood in the 1970s) was a huge fan of "Big Poison" and "Little Poison." Any knowledge that anyone might share about these photos (e.g., dating, type, value, etc.) would be greatly appreciated. The photos are in lesser condition due to creasing and bending but I think the images are pretty neat.

Just from the pics, they appear to be originals. News photos were often well handled by the newspapers, so the wear/damage on yours isn't abnormal.

Default Very Cool!

Can't beat that Xmas gift....Thanks for sharing the old Waner Photos....I'd love to see more if you have them. I also agree these appear to be original. I have a Picturegram of the first photo of Paul getting his 3000th.

Guys,
Thanks for the input. Love the picturegram. I only have one other photo of the brothers, which I posted on the forum a while back. That one shows them on the field chatting with two women in the stands (their wives?) before a game. The stands are adorned with those traditional concentric red, white and blue banners (I forget what those are called) which leads me to believe it was taken on an Opening Day sometime in the 1930s. Also, last night I pressed my dad for more background info and on further reflection he thinks that the photos were more likely given to him by his stepfather Fred who was an avid photographer and lived in western Pennsylvania in the 1930s. That wouldn't explain the AP photo from Boston but maybe he made a trip there on behalf of a Pittsburgh newspaper or acquired that photo from another source.

Those are cool photos - thanks for sharing! And the red, white and blue things used on Opening Day are called bunting.
