Default Elliot should fix this board asap

Posted By: hankron

It has turned out that someone has been posting on the chatboard under 'hankron'

It has long been been my contention that Elliot should require that people sign up to use the board, to prevent anonymous posts, attacks and such. This is the final straw for me, and I will never post on this board when someone else posts as me. I will post again if and when Elliot changes the policy so that people have to sign up.

If anyone posts under 'hanron' after this post and before Elliot changes policy, it is not me.

Somone added a chat message under my handle (the one I was currently using). It was as if two people were signed in under the same handle, posting independently.

Not to make light of what is a serious issue, but dang, if this was really David who initiated this thread, wouldn't he have immediately followed it up with 2 or 3 more posts, even after claiming it would be his last post? Perhaps this 'Hankron' is the imposter.

David,

Agreed. A Network54 forum upgrade is sorely needed. The features currently available on this forum are largely reminiscent of a 1996 chatboard.

What would the costs be of hosting an ftp site and paying a website designer to do a small amount of work? Not much. In fact, I'd even pay for it.

I believe that transferring old information would also be possible. A new search feature alone would be invaluable to collectors and would warrant such a change.

Comments/suggestions from other members?

A new search engine would be outstanding.

I think a search engine would be a fantastic addition. Currently you have to physic powers or the memory of the elephant to access past discussions.

And that sign-up thing probably isn't a bad idea--if nothing else maybe it will bring back our most overtly helpful contributer (I already miss him and that peanut sized dog of his).

I can just hear the ghost of Hankron typing away. Is this kind of like the internet version of a hunger strike?

If I need "physic" powers I'm in deep doodoo - I still marvel when I flip a switch and the light comes on. But on a more serious note...is this me typing?!?

For collectors of early baseball images please note the following: The earliest form of photography was an image on glass called a cabinet card. This lasted from about 1500 to 1505 A.D. Considered as not being cost effective, photography ceased to exist until baseball began in the 1920s thus giving a reason for the resurrection of photography. CDV images, which are actually a relatively modern process, were developed about this time. Their popularity faded out just prior to WWII when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor. As the worlds stock of CDV paper was wiped out at Pearl Harbor, a new process was developed called the daguerreotype or "dag". This lasted just a short while until around 1950 when the tintype was produced. The tintype is not actually made on tin at all but is the process by which modern baseball cards are produced. However, the newest cards are now being developed using a low-cost method by Donruss. This is called the Ruth'sJersey process which consists of printing a player's image on a swatch of the abundantly available jersey from Babe Ruth. -----There, that oughta get him back.

Obviously, the first post was David's. Who else would spell their name wrong in the last sentence? Well, either David or Julie pretending to be David.

I think it has something to do with a lawsuit between Pat Summerall and Dick Vermeil regarding their True Value Hardware stock.......I think.
