Default Old catcher's mitt

My neighbor has this mitt, terrible condition and no markings I can see, and I'm assuming it has no value or interest to collectors, but before he throws it away, I thought it would be worthwhile to at least check with the experts here. It looks ancient to me, and possibly even home made. Any info or guesses would be welcome.

Dont throw it away. That is a very cool item despite it's condition. I am no expert on gloves but I would imagine it has some value although not much. That is a great display piece to go with some period equipment.

Thanks, that's kind of what I was thinking. There must be some glove experts on the board, I hope some will weigh in with their knowledge.

Does look like a youth catcher's glove/first baseman glove hard to tell - maybe 1920s - could be older - with the damage and missing labels it would be hard to identify - still cool!

I am not an expert, but I have a couple of mitts of what look to be a similar vintage, and they do not have much value.

Thanks, Paul, I told them I thought it might get $25 or $50 on eBay, but don't be surprised if it doesn't get any bids at all.

They live across the street, if you want to make an offer I'd be happy to convey it to them.
