The "recent bids" feature cuts both ways: bidders could wait for things to really slow down before dropping their next bids, unlike in previous years where REA was really like shooting in the dark. In essence, the feature is just a true 15 minute clock which actually resets after each bid.

I dunno - the REA rules say that the 15 minute concept dies at 11 PM and now it's just up to whenever Rob feels like it's been enough.

Agreed--but do you realistically think that Rob is shutting this thing down unless and until the bids start coming in reallllly slowly? It's just starting to heat up now!

No way it closes before 2 AM; just pointing out that seeing that another bid has been placed doesn't matter all that much since there is no 15 minute clock being renewed anymore.

Shoot. I should pack it in before I decide to start bidding on things again!

I don't think so.....I think it is still in 15 minute increments....but could be wrong

meaning it starts over if there is a bid in the previous 15 minutes....but I sort of like actual clocks better...I am not sure if this is one or not...

"After 11:00 PM EDT, we may close the auction without reference to the fifteen minute rule."

No, what I mean is that by looking at the time of the latest bids...a bidder can see some spacing of 5 mins..then 8...then 9...and when it starts getting late...just pull the trigger. Previously we had no clue when it would end.

Nonetheless, I don't see this thing ending before 3 am EST anyway.
