Am new to this thread and to 54 also but wanted to share some of my Card Cave as work in progress...
(Doh! Not sure why photos are all sideways! Anyone have a tip on how to manage the orientation of the photos?) |

Great room, looks awesome! I really like those racks you have on each side of the fireplace. I am planning on picking up a couple like that next month, do you remember what brand they are, and would you recommend them?
Thanks, Mike.

Welcome! You're not the only one who has those problems, but I'm not sure why that is. If my photos are "right" when I upload them, them come out "right."

This happens because the pictures you took are actually sideways, but the software in your phone or camera is rotating them to look "correct" for you. The images themselves have a piece of data called an EXIF tag, specifically, Orientation. This data is used to set the 0,0 point of a photo to a certain corner, so that it displays properly in any software that supports that tag. Unfortunately, this is still relatively new thing and there are still many websites that either do not read photo metadata, or strip that data when you upload the file because it actually does an image conversion.

Well, I read it, but that doesn't mean I got it (or know how to fix it).
It's way too late at night for words that big. The one constant I have noticed is that if I take the photo in "horizontal" mode, it always posts perfectly. If I take the photo in "vertical" mode, it always posts sideways (no matter the amount of editing, rotating or tinkering I devote to it). Last edited by perezfan; 09-23-2020 at 12:36 AM. |

Example....
Landscape mode = straight Portrait mode = sideways |

When you change the mode, you notice the screen rotates to show the new "up"? But you have turned the camera, up and down does not change in reality. The software makes it look like it has changed. The forum doesn't know anything about the fake "up" you had set on your camera, it is only seeing the image as how it is actually taken by the camera.
Basically, the picture is sideways because you held the camera sideways to take the picture. Last edited by Tripredacus; 09-23-2020 at 02:59 PM. |

And great displays! They're done very attractively. |
