Smile some love for the blackhawks!!!

they came from the depths of the NHL 3 years ago.(weren't they picked as the worst franchise in pro sports in sports illustrated?) to win the cup....the hardest championship to win of the 4 major sports. kudos to the flyers too as they really were an exiting team and a hated foe! perhaps the strangest celebration for a overtime goal ever, as the only player celebrating was kane. amazing that the homer goal judge missed that one?

Goal judges behind the nets don't exist anymore. It's all done upstairs, and in any case Philly based minor officials would not be used.

In any case this was a very big deal here, drowning out this weekend's upcoming Cubs-White Sox series.

I just got back from Chicago where I learned the sweeper I posted above was nearly destroyed in the Blackhawks parade. After the buses carrying the team made their way down the parade route the crowd pushed through the barriers and flooded the street. The sweeper got caught in the crowd and people began climbing on it and shaking it. After calling 911 the operator was pulled from the machine.

If you're interested here's a time lapse video of the parade. About the 2:30 mark you see the sweeper in the crowd.

Here's a short clip of people crawling on the sweeper. (There is profanity.)
