Lombardi called him the greatest player he ever coached. That should speak volumes.
He was a legend in both Wisconsin and in Texas (SMU). He's already greatly missed. We're starting to lose the Lombardi team. Still plenty of greats alive, but the next few years are going to be tough. Paul Hornung. Herb Adderley. Willie Wood. Willie Davis. Boyd Dowler. Jerry Kramer. All these guys are still with us. And last, but certainly not least, the greatest Packer. I already know that the day Bart Starr passes, I will cry like a baby. Forget what he accomplished on the field. One of the very best people that's ever put on a uniform in professional sports.
