Default 1956 Topps Eye Appeal Opinions Requested

Hi All,

I just picked up a few potential upgrades to my 1956 Topps set and I am having trouble deciding between the new ones and my old ones in terms of eye appeal. I have put quality scans in below and I would love to hear opinions from folks on this board regarding the relative eye appeal. Thanks!

1. Harmon Killebrew

Those are all super nice and really tough to tell but I like the new Killebrew and Mathews better and the old Snider better.

The old Killebrew has a slight diamond cut, but I like the skin tones on that one and the old Duke over the newer ones. Jump ball on the Matthews.

Nice 56s. Such a great set.
I’d say old Killebrew, new for the other two.
Good luck deciding.

New, new, old. But whatever you decide, if you want to sell your doubles let me know, I'm collecting 56 too.
Thanks.

I like all the new ones better. Killebrew is a close call because the corners look sharper on the old one. I definitely prefer the new Snider; Duke's face is a little blurry on the old one.

All nice cards either way. How many of your 56s are graded?

Old Killebrew better colors. But I'd keep both for the slight difference in stock.

New Mathews. I like the centering better.

New Snider.

Hi All. Thanks for the input. It seems like most folks are on board with the new Mathews, and there is a slight majority favoring the old Killebrew and the new Snider.

For the Killebrew, I think the color of the old one is generally better (whiter border) but the red line near the bottom of the card isn't great. There are also a few black print marks on the back (see his field average in the 1955 row) whereas the new one has a clean back. The color/surface of the new one near his portrait has some issues as well.

The Snider is tough. The color of the new one has a stronger black near the name and generally appears more yellow than the old one. I think the corners are a tiny bit better on the old one. It's a close call.

I will probably sell the duplicates, but I first need to figure out which ones to keep. Thanks again for the input and let me know if you have more thoughts.

I like the SGC Killebrew, but then again I'm a sucker for SGC slabs. Vintage just looks so great in them.
