Default OT: The Curious Case of Sidd Finch

I thought it would be a good time to bring up Sidd Finch. On April 1st, it will be 30 years since the story broke about Sidd Finch. I was a diehard Met fan back then and was all excited when I heard that he might play for the Mets.

For those of you not old enough to know the story behind Sidd Finch, follow the the link:

It was a brilliant story, I remember reading it and as a Mets fan, so happy to think of him pitching for the Mets.

I remember that story every April 1st. I knew it was a joke when I was reading it..........not because I was smart but because before I got to read about it, a friend told me about the story and that it was a joke.
Funny thing though, A member of my fantasy league thought it was real and bid half his budget to buy him. However, we were nice enough to let him off the hook.

I'm old enough to remember the story very well. I think I was half taken in and as a Cardinal fan I was thinking "Damn those Mets!".

Nearly as brilliant was the joke on here a number of years ago, with the find of a T206 Joe Jackson proof. Many people were floored at the 'find' that day!

Default Happily Fooled (but originally disappointed)

You only need to study my avatar to understand how much I enjoyed being fooled 31 years ago.

When playing fantasy baseball, my team was usually called Sidd Finch's Curious Case.

The book is even better than the original SI story - The collector in me insisted on having not only the SI issue, but an 1st edition hardcover.
