Default Saying hello for the first time!

Hello everyone!

I'm glad to join NET54 and hopefully contribute from time to time on these threads. My first pack of baseball cards was a 1986 Fleer pack. When I didn't get a KC Royal, my grandmother sent me back to the convenience store (3 blocks away) to buy more. That didn't work, so she sent me back again. Well third time was a charm and we pulled Royals DH Jorge Orta!!

Pretty much a collector ever since!

Thanks,
I know these threads are more fun with pictures so I will try to figure that part out! Maybe I can lead off with a single.

Default Welcome Charlie!

That T206 Abbaticchio is a LONG way from 1986 Fleer (and in my wheelhouse - working on an extensive Pirates card collection)! What do you collect?

Welcome Charlie.

My first cards were 1985 Fleer (purchased at a penny per card out of a big box at a pharmacy) As a Royals fan, this was MY FAVORITE:

Like so many others, I drifted away from collecting in the early nineties, but caught the collecting bug again a few years, and was excited that now I could afford some of the vintage cards I only used to dream about. If you're still a Kansas City fan, I recommend tracking down some vintage Kansas City cards. I'm currently putting together a Kansas City Blues T-206 team set:

But my main passion right now is 52 Bowman. 90% done:

Glad you're here. It's lots of fun and there's lots to learn!

My main focus is the T206 set. Trying to do it all in PSA slabs (1, 2, 3s and a few 4s), but I have 30 cards raw that will get graded one day.

In keeping with the T206 theme, I like to collect the modern Topps 206 Mini Cards as well. I will post some pictures soon. Also eTopps 206 and the Historic Autograph T206s slabbed cards.

I also like chasing the Top 250 Sports Cards (as per the PSA registry list).

Every now and then, a 2013 Upper Deck Kansas Jayhawks Autograph card pops up that I don't have (I'm at 48 of 62).

Finally, I collect Stadium Give Away (SGA) Kansas City Royals Bobbleheads (40 of 69). I'm curious what will happen to the bobbles that were planned to be given away at stadiums this year if the season never happens?

Here's a page from my T(opps)206 collection. I have the complete Piedmont and now working on the shorter printed backs (Old Mill, Polar Bear, Cycle #'d/99)

It may be modern, but it still stokes my fascination with T206.

And this is my most expensive T206 so far. Looking at the current prices, even at this grade, I feel like I stole this one a few years ago.

My first packs were (unfortunately) 1987 Topps. The wrappers were green, gum sucked and every pack had a Dale Sveum, Dave Righetti or Pete Rose manager card. Fortunately my local Waldenbooks had a sealed baseball card starter kit book with some T206 reprints. I never saw a Cobb for sale until I started one ebay in 2002. Couldn't afford it but started buying cards again in the past decade. There's plenty of information to search for here via the engine. I will never be a "RTFF" guy so if you got questions, PM me.

Welcome.
