Default Walter Johnson Type 1 Portrait Photo (sold)

$430 (SOLD) net to me.

Terrific clarity on this Type 1 8" x 10" Walter Johnson portrait photo - the light reflected in his eyes makes this pretty captivating in person. Excellent condition.

Bryan,
That's a great portrait of WaJo!
Good luck finding its next owner.

He had beautiful blue-gray eyes, according to his daughter. To my knowledge, a color photo or film of Walter Johnson does not exist, despite his living well into the age of color photography.

If he was wearing a uniform, it would go for well into four figures. Collecting great studio portraits might prove a worthwhile investment, they could catch up some day.

Thanks guys! I have thought many times about how this would have another 0 on the end of it if he was in uniform.

It also looks better in person than my scans show.

Don't know about the extra 0 if he was in a uni, but it's terrific as it is, and congrats on the sale!
