Default 1993 Topps Gold 39 Card Cello Pack???

Does anyone have any idea what these are or how/where they were distributed. I have searched with no answer. It is a sealed cello pack inside this box with apparently 39 1993 Topps gold cards. I'm going to assume they are random cards inside but have no clue. Anyone have any idea?

I think it might be from a version of the factory set. Most had 10 gold cards inserted, but I think I have seen other packaging containing a larger number.

Edit: Most had 10 gold and 3 black gold. It's quite possible that the 39 contains 30 regular gold and 9 black gold to be 3x the standard factory set grouping.

I have the Gold sets from 92-94 ( and the Gold Winner set from 92). The Standard Catalog from 2011, which sadly I think was the last to have post 1980 listings, says one gold in each wax pack, 3 in rack packs, five in jumbo cello, and 10 in factory sets. But maybe they had extras that were packaged differently. The 93 set had 825 cards but had 6 players not in the base set which were in lieu of the checklist cards in the 825 card base set. I have the 93 and 94 Black Gold set2 as well. The Standard Catalog says there were 10 in a 93 factory set. I can not verify that as my set in in a binder and put together the Black Gold set from redemption sets

Maybe for a Home Shopping Network repack? Is the cello clear and shrink wrapped or loosely wrapped and sealed like a pack of Magic the Gathering? Does it have Topps markings on it or is it just clear?

The complete sets (at least the first few pages) on worthpoint just have the 10+3 extras mentioned earlier.

Could have been a giveaway at a convention that year?

The cello packaging is pretty thick with no printing at all. Here is a pic of the end of the box with possibly a Topps product number.

From your bumped thread on PSA's board, I think this is the box I was referring to in the first response. I'm thinking it's close enough to the right number to have been included in this "vending box."

Yeah, thought I would give it another shot over there but haven't been back over to see if there were any responses. Figured some additional eyes over here wouldn't hurt. I'm just puzzled since I can't find anything with the same packaging. I would have to get one of those vending boxes to see if there was one of these in there.

I haven't looked, but I'm betting if I can find one it's not going to be cheap!

I picked up a 400 box at an antique store last year for $10.00, it was sealed but when I opened it up, the topps gold cards where missing.... It had a few star cards. I kept the box if you need pictures of it

Called Topps today and they couldn't look it up with the product code. The lady I talked to was very nice and helpful. She told me to e-mail her with pics of the item and info and she will research it. Says she recently had to research some card from 1983 for a customer and were able to come up with an answer. Hopefully it works!!
