Default eBay / USPS Question

So today I sold a decent card (buy it now) to a buyer with 0 feedback. Card is worth a few hundred and the buyer paid right away. I sent the buyer a feeler note, just saying I'd ship tomorrow and hey dude I see you have zero feedback are you new to eBay? No answer.

So I'm going to ship with signature required. Curious if insurance protects me if this buyer files a claim saying he got an empty package? I would gladly spend the extra ten bucks or whatever it is for insurance if I knew it protected me against such an eventuality. Does it?

USPS insurance does not cover that unless the box was damaged and the card fell out. Even then USPS claims are tough.

The registered mail will not be of any help if the buyer says the you sent the wrong card or that the package was empty. USPS will have delivered the package without damage so they will not be on the hook. It will be up to Ebay to sort it out at that point. Spending the extra money for registered mail is fine but it will not give you any more protection if the buyer claims item not as described.

If a buyer on eBay wants to screw you by concocting a story - there is likely little you can do, and the odds eBay stands behind the buyer and not you are fairly high. That's just how they roll anymore.

Can you change your settings so as to block potential bidders / buyers with less than a certain feedback rating? I want to say you could do this on eBay in the past, but I have no clue anymore. Have not sold there regularly in quite some time. I would not be surprised if this option is gone now. They do seem to be increasingly less supportive of sellers, especially as it relates to collectibles.

Thanks for all the input. I shipped today with signature required. This is a completely new ebay buyer with no feedback who opened his account two days ago, bought my card and has yet to get feedback from anyone.

Welp, the buyer paid anyway so let's just see how this goes...

You can block bidders who have multiple strikes for non-payment.
