Hi All,

The last pickup was getting long so I thought I'd kick off a new one with this beauty I picked up this morning. The condition is unimprovable and the felt is nice and heavy.

Nice pennant Mike. 1950? Where did you pick it up?

Hi Joe. Either 40s or 50s. I purchased it at an antique show this morning. There was also a Gehrig Ken Wel (non-zipper back) with a barely visible signature for $1800.

It has to be 1950. That's the only year that fits that pennant type that the AS game was held in Comiskey.

It's a beauty Mike. Congrats!

I picked up a couple of early Phila. Eagles Pennants lately.
The first one is a variety I have never seen before. Based on the Eastern Champions notation, I know it dates to somewhere between 1947-49, but I need to research it and see if I can narrow it down somehow, but I doubt I'll be able to. For its age, the condition is pretty darn good

The second pennant is one that the seller stated was from the 1930s, but I think early 1940's is probably more likely.

Although I showed the photo before, I just got my 1935 Eagles panoramic photo back from the framer. The photo is 27 inches long, and I acquired it from the son of a former Eagle.

Thanks Dan. I really had no idea for sure, but assumed it could be either.

Picked this lot of 6 bats and 2 gloves at a local auction. Nothing super good. A nice old Playground bat which i believe is circa 1920's.

On the all star pennant I was thinking 1950 too because that was when the MLB basebeall AS game was played at Comiskey, but I just realized your pennant says "East - West" and not AL - NL. Why would a MLB AS game pennant say East/West. Could this not be referring to the MLB AS game?

The Negro League All Star game was known as the East-West game. They played at Comiskey in 1946.

Mike... if you can snap a few photos of that Gehrig, I'd be interested in seeing them. Besides a light signature stamping, how was the overall condition of the mitt? Thanks!

Picked this up recently (missed it at the Hunt's Louisville auction.) The game ball from the April 25, 1912 contest between the Athletics (Chief Bender) and the Yankees (Russ Ford) at Hilltop Park. Inscribed by Bender, and part of his personal collection. Balls sure got dirty in those days!

Found these today in an antique shop. The balls are about perfect and the mask is in great shape. It's from the 20s.

Great Mask, Mike... these are really tough in that condition! Is there a Manufacturer name or patch (either on the padding or the head-strap?)

You are really on a roll lately!

A few more...

* 3 of the oldest/most artistic Scorers I've seen (the Catcher example was featured in the Halper auction, but was in lesser condition).

* The coolest Ashtray ever (this was on my wantlist for years - finally acquired one!) Rare piece!
