Had a partial leg amputation as a result of diabetes infection. That plus Gibson turning 80 makes me sad...and old

He missed the show a I went to a couple of weeks back because he was in the hospital. Guess we now know why he was in there.

He was scheduled to be here on October 10th for the debut of the new documentary the First Boys of Springs covering Spring Training's birth in 1886 up through the 1920's.

He fell ill at the release of the new Bob Gibson book in New York and has been hospitalized since. Gibson jumped on a plane and came for the film and was a wonderful gentleman. He said "Just like when we were teammates we fill in for each other."

Sad news. I went to the Cardinals fantasy camp in Jupiter, FL last January. What a class act and nice guy. He and Vince Coleman did a 10 minute session on base stealing for us (as if any of us could sprint for 90 feet). Pretty cool.
