As the E107 post proves, we all have some set or card that we chase, Quixote-like, in the probably vain quest to find or complete it. My baseball set is the 1928 PCL Exhibit set. What's yours?

The card I want more than any other is an e107 Bender. Bender is my favorite prewar player and e107 is by far my favorite set. A lowgrade example popped up on Ebay several months back and I let it go. I'm still kicking myself for that one!

Many Many grails...my current top 3

1. T-205 Drum back (any condition)
2. Magie error (own one in horrific shape)
3. Old Judge Cabinet Delahanty

Being a poor 1st grade teacher, my only hope is finding a find like the Playball or Old Judge find...oh well...

Josh,

Who says you aren't rich? There's got to be satisfaction in knowing that you are molding the future. It's your contribution to the 1st grade students in your class that makes you rich. Money is cool, it allows us to buy THINGS or CARDS or whatever. The feeling of knowing you've accomplished something with your class has got to be great. Ok, you might get a different type of satisfaction from going to a yard sale and finding a box of Phillies cards.

The 2 Tarzan Bread cards I am going to need to complete my player set.

Jay

I like to sit outside, drink beer and yell at people. If I did this at home I would be arrested, so I go to baseball games and fit right in.

The 1907 Chicago Cubs composite team postcard with the pennant attached. I looked for this postcard for about two years and then it popped up twice in a span of three months (first Mastro, then Hunt) and I was outbid both times. That was almost a year ago.

Of course, as so often happens, I deeply regret not bidding more and would now gladly fork over the dough for either of the winning bidder prices (the Lelands one was in much better shape so it sold for about $800 more than the Hunt one).

On the side of completing a grail quest, I looked for a '48 Gehrig Leaf premium for almost two years and then two popped up on E-Bay in a matter of a couple of weeks. Sheer paranoia drove me to buy them both. I justified it to myself that I would place the two side by side, keep the one I liked best and re-sell the other on E-Bay. Of course that was a few months ago and my paranoia's still prevented me from actually selling the extra...

Chris!

You need to get in touch with David Levin ASAP!!

He found TWO McPhee Old Judge cards in the recent Oregon find, and would certainly sell you them for the right price!

Thanks for the heads-up Hal. I checked with Dave last week about the McPhee cards, but they were out of my range price-wise.

I did like the Mayo Delehanty that you are going to auction however!

My vintage grail is a Bid McPhee, but with the price of the two recently found ones, this may have just become an unrealistic grail.

I'm also trying to put together a collection of every Zeenut HOFer -- anyone got a spare Heilmann, Crawford, Coveleski, Vance, or Lombardi?

T231 Fans - but they don't exist (just a joke for Leon). That leaves a few types I'm missing:
D380 Clements Bread
D382 Tarzan Bread
E224 Texas Tommy Type 2
T4 Obak Cabinet
T215 Pirate

Well, I saw Scott Gaynor offering some Monty Python material on ebay, but my grail will remain a T4 Obak Cabinet of a Vancouver or Victoria player, preferably Bob Brown, the father of Vancouver baseball.

How much is Dave asking for the McPhee Old Judge cards?

My guess is $10,000...

and unfortunately for those who need the card, I think he will get that much for them.

They are just SO darn hard to find.
