Default Topps "capless" fact check

I don't have my big Topps baseball picture book with me.

Can anyone refute the assertion that from 1952 through 1958 the only card to picture a player without a cap is 1952 #134 Joe Tipton?

I'd like to use this in my blog.

Looks right, Bob - a quick scan of the pics showed only the Tipton, and a few catchers who I think have hats on backwards in the "throwing the mask off" pose, but my eyes and the small pictures make me less than 100% certain!

Default There are more

... if you look at my collection ... Due to paper loss you will find many cards with no caps ... heck some of mine have players with no heads (looking at you Mr. Newhouser!).

But on a more serious answer:

You said "player" so I guess that the 1956 Harridge and Giles would be excluded under your definition. (as well as their 1958 card)

What about the 1956 Red Sox team ... there's a player in there with no cap on.

But the first card that popped to mind when I saw your question ... the 1956 Willie Mays. His big portrait has a cap ... but he's missing it in his sliding pose.

There may be others.

These just came to the top of my mind.

Cheers,
Patrick

Thanks, guys.

Kind of off on a side track, but how about 1948-55 Bowman?

I checked them all, and these were the only two (including '55 Umpires):

1953 Bowman B&W #34 Ebba St. Claire

1955 Bowman #315 Cal Hubbard
