Default Sad News -- Rich Altman

I did not do business with him, because I'm not an autograph person, but he ran some successful shows and brought several of the old-time Boston Celtics to the hobby to sign.

The National is saddened to hear of the passing of Rich Altman a longtime NSCC exhibitor and show promoter. He will be missed as a perennial fixture at the show.

RIP, Rich, and condolences to his family. A true "hobby presence" for as long as I can remember, Rich always had great autographs and did some good shows as a promoter. Hate to see another passing of the old guard, but as someone said, "Time goes, and we go with it"--in other words, carpe diem.

Very Sorry to hear this, Rich was a great guy. My wife and I use to go to his monthly signings held at his store in Hollywood, FL. Met many hall of famers there and sports athletes! Always a great to talk and deal with! Condolences to his family and friends!

RIP Rich. He was at the National. How did he pass? Was it COVID or something else?

I thought he was very professional which goes a long way with me. We talked at the National. We were bemoaning a bit the fact that Bill Russell retired from signing as we both had 1956 Olympic programs that could use his signature. Happy to say I have 3 of his signatures from 1956 signed either at or on the way to the Olympic Games.

Default Nice Guy

Nice guy, class act. Down to earth, always enjoyed talking to him at shows. Loved that gravelly voice of his. RIP and thank you, Rich, for serving the hobby so well over many years.

Sad news.

Was he just in Chicago at the National? What was the cause of death?

He was at the NSCC, I passed by his booth. I know Dr, Beckett posted his tribute podcast where he mentioned they had a brief yearly chat.

Others as well. so we can verify he was just at the NSCC earlier this month

Rich
