however, it kills me everytime I see the '52 Mantle that has "Rookie" written on the Slab or when it is referred to as Mantles' rookie card. The Bowman 51 is his rookie card not the T'52.

I would be ok with it if it said First topps card. That would fine. Sorry for the rant. Its just my pet peeve. This is not directed at you either by the way.

Very Nice cards and great pick ups! Enjoy them!
What kills me is someone always posting about how the 52 Mantle is not really his rookie card. I think most everyone gets it by now. Can't we stop bringing it up?

It's a pet peeve of mine as well. BUT I usually only bring it up to bust balls. In this case though, I think Edward has a valid point in bringing it up. WHY does it say ROOKIE on the flip? It's one thing to casually refer to it as a rookie, but to have it professionally referred to as a rookie? Something's not quite right about that..

Agreed. Somewhat confusing for a professional company to do so.

If most people understands that then why everytime I turn around someone is refering to the '52 Mantle as his rookie card?

Perhaps I didn't articulate well enough and for that I am sorry. I was mostly complaining that "ROOKIE" is written on the slab.

Kinda makes you wonder how much the major grading companies really know about our great hobby. Its just something to chew on. I was not trying to be irate.

I've seen SGC graded 1952 Topps Mays cards with "Rookie" on the label also, but the ones I've seen in the newer holders (with the etched SGC logo on the back instead of the gold label) don't have it on there anymore. I'm not sure why they quit putting "Rookie" on the Mays labels, but didn't change it for the Mantle.
