Default Have I made an ebay enemy?

Posted By: Jason

I'm sure many of you have sold on Ebay. Have you ever had a cringing feeling that comes when a guy with next to no feedback bids on a lot of lots?

This guy has three feedback including two books under a buck and a six dollar card.

To other bidders I imagine he looks like a shill.

To me he looks like a guy that doesn't intend to pay me the four hundred bucks or so that he is into with me already. (I hope he gets outbid)

That has happened with me in auctions. You can either hope they get outbid, or if you know the item will sell for a good amount, regardless of their bid, just cancel the bid, and block the user from bidding anymore.

Jason, I've had several winners with low feedback recently, including one newbie with no feedback at all. Was I a little worried-yes. In the end though, they were all class acts who paid on time with great communication. Your bidder may have been testing the water with his first few purchases, and now satisfied with his Ebay transactions is willing to spend more.

I agree with Sean, guy could be smart and just testing the waters until he was comfortable. Remember, EVERYONE has to start off at zero feedback.

When selling my comics I had MANY bidders with low (under 10) feedback and thankfully I had no problems. The one problem - a bounced $6 check - came from a guy with high (200+) feedback. Go figure. . . .

I wouldn't worry until you know there is something to worry about.

I have no problem letting new guys bid. After all we were all new at one time ourselves.

My auctions close in about 1/2 hour so we'll see how many he wins. If he doesn't win any at least he was another bidder that helped me realize better prices. =)

If he is a new ebayer, he will probably be very diligent.

AND HE WAS LATE PAYING! i NEARLY HAD A FIT. bUT HE FINALLY PAID...

I should clarify that I had a real bitter dispute with some deadbeat ebayer and when I saw this new bidder suddenly bidding on piles of lots. Visions of this guy getting me back flooded into my head.

Turns out that yes its just a new ebayer, and they only won the cheaper Playball's I had up for auction. So I think all is well.
