Default Basketball card you regret selling the most...

If you've been in the hobby long enough you've probably made some missteps selling at some point or another I'm sure.

What is the one card you regret selling?

This is undoubtedly mine

Can't beat the centering on this one. I could take next week off if I had kept it. Oh well, others can relate.

1985 Star Slam Dunk Jordan BGS 9. Sold at the start of the run-up. It then quintupled. Ditto my 1961 Fleer Russell.

Fortunately, I held on to my 1957 Russell. I cannot believe the prices on those. $14,000 for a PSA 2...holy crap!

Well not exactly one card but one basketball item.
Sold a 1980 Uncut Basketball sheet with 2 Bird / Erving / Johnson cards. The sheet did not have the perforations that separated the panels.

But you hopefully sold and got another card that likely went up too.

I sold some 8 and 9 Jordans--actually downgraded. The 9 Jordan got me a star 2nd year Jordan AND a Jackie.

With the 8, got a 7, a 6 and a 5 sticker for the same price. Now I can make a 5th 86 set

Man, I had stacks of those back in the day. Nobody gave a lick about those sets for years. When I was doing shows back then, I think I would give a set of those away for anybody spending 20 bucks or more, LOL!

It was a cheap alternative to the Fleer Jordan rookie when it started to take off in the late 80's.

If I had just put 10 or so of those sets away.

I remember when I was a kid my parents used to get us these Christmas card stockings that would have all kinds of odd ball cards in them. One year I distinctly remember there being a handful of these ugly Michael Jordan stickers in one. And now every time I see the Prism sticker I get flashbacks to this stocking and I'm almost positive I had five or six that I definitely didn't keep.

I think I win - '57 Russell rookie PSA 8 in 2014 for $8,000.

For what it's worth, it was posted on this board at the time, and you all turned it down! So you can all feel bad too!

A 2007-08 Lebron James Limited Logos Patch Auto, I think I got it for $500 and flipped it for $700 in 2009. Nowadays I like to pretend I never owned it haha

I think I sold my 61 PSA 7 Russell for 600ish during the LOTG 2017 auction. Who knew.

I am just so glad I grabbed some of the better RCs a few years go. No way would I be up for it now.

I think I missed my window for getting a signed Russell rookie. I probably should not have been so picky, and just should have bought an ugly sharpie one when they were affordable.

Condition did not slow me down, I just wanted one under a grand at the time:

Can't even sniff one for that now. I busted out 2 PSA 4 57 Cousy's and got them signed in late 2019. They were about 200 each.

I guess I'm glad that I'm not so old to have had the Russell RC in my childhood collection, but that is a great card!

For myself, it was less selling than just ruining the 1980 Magic/Bird rookie card. I expect I pulled six or seven from packs and separated them all as a kid.

On the non-basketball front, I gave away almost all of my cards when I left for college, including dozes of rookie Rickey Henderson and Joe Montana cards. Although in all fairness, we were active enough that I'm not sure I had any/many PSA 8+ cards left....
