Bonus Baby baby required to be on roster in 53 and 54 but did not play. In the service in 55 and 56. Played little on 57 Braves team, but was starting in 58 when Darryl Spencer effectively ruined his career at 25

Hall of Famer who played centerfield between Ruth and Meusel for some great Yankees teams. Mentor to Joe DiMaggio and whose popularity among players and fans rivaled that of Gehrig

Charles K. Chuck Stobbs. Pitcher for the Washington Senators in 1953-1958 and 1959-1960. 107 wins and 19 saves in 15 MLB seasons. He was one of MLB's first bonus babies. Debuted at 18 years old for the Boston Red Sox in 1947. Best remembered as the pitcher who gave up a home run that Mickey Mantle hit an estimated 565 feet and entirely out of Griffith Stadium in 1953. His best season may have been 1956 for the Washington Senators as he posted a 15-15 record with an ERA of 3.60 in 240 innings pitched. He finished his career with the Minnesota Twins in 1961.

Stobbs turned down a signing bonus because the rules at the time would have required him to spend two years in the majors before he was ready to pitch at that level. In 1947 Stobbs, his father who was his high school coach, and his younger brother who was the teams mascot, all got thrown out of the same high school game for different reasons

Promising career maybe sidetracked by 2 year stint in military during Korean war. Back up to Ted Williams who also served in Korean conflict
